	Many people make the mistake of signing up at the first martial arts school they find. Proximity and cost are important, but not the only factors.	This choice can be an important decision, so give it the time it deserves. Before you begin visiting schools in your neighborhood and beyond, get all the facts. 	Determine Your Goals Ask yourself "Why might I want to or have my child pursue martial arts training?" Do you know someone who raves about a great martial arts school? Are you seeking:

Martial arts training can satisfy many of these goals, but it takes research and forethought in order to find the right school to satisfy your needs. If this is your first exposure to martial arts, be open to the possibility that you may find a school best suited for you that does not meet all of your goals. This will be a learning experience, so be open and practical.

A reputable martial arts school will be glad to answer any questions (including price) you might have over the telephone. If they won't - move on! They should have information available to send you for your review.
